   His Holiness Late Shri Ganayogi Pundit Panchakshari 6aN-ayj is known in the state of Kamataka and as we] I to the whole of India through his contributions in the field of music, art, religion and philosophy. He was blessed by His Holiness Late Shri. Guru Kumar Maha Shiva yogi of Hanagal. He is contribution for the richness of the Indian culture is phenomenal. Though he was blind but he had strong inner eye with which he developed a vision that achieved miraculous performance during his life time and after­wards. His contribution in the field of music is worth mentioning and had unique achievement in Karnataka and Hindustani music a rare speciality indeed.The flavour of his music has spread far and wide in the country.

        His Holiness Late Shri. Pandit Panchakshari Gavayi went around the villages and collected the donations to run a school of music for blind students to give them a new vision through which they could lead a respectable life and find emancipation. Starting Of such a project was first of its kind and it stands tall as an achieve­ment in the cultural history of mankind. After the demise of Panchakshari Gavayi his abled student with command on three languages His Holiness Dr. Shri Pandit Puttaraj Gavayi suc­ceeding the Veereshwar Punyashram. He is the guiding force for various institutions. At Ninety One he is active and concerned about the welfare of the blind and the

        Disabled in the community apart from establishing for common public especially the down trodden and poor. He never been deterred by blindness, he translated Basava Hindi, Translated Shri Tontad Shiddalingavijay Purana in He excelled in poetic abilities by composing Shri Kumar Kavyam and Shri Matka Vichar Geet. In recognition to contribution the Government of Karnataka presented him Award" Sangeet Vidwan

       For creating a just society it is needless to mention about the fare practices in our routine life. It is being ably done through and Kirtanas which are nothing but interpretations of our such a way that even an illiterate man follow the values of move up in the ladder of self realization. In many ways Punyashram can be compared to Mint which incessantly h&- providing these social workers in the society. Blindness for who have studied here has never been any limitation. this yeomen service of this Veereswar Punyashram the Rotary In ternational has contributed substantially. Dr. Pt. Puttaraj contribution is exemplary in nature.

        Education has been accorded top priority in the activities especially keeping in view of the massive disadvantaged population in the rural areas. In 1989 Dr. Gavayi formed an Education Society for the Blinds known as PGAS Samiti. Through this in memory of Panchakshari Gavayi a college for Music and Arts was established in the year 1991-92 these institutions are formed on the strong edifice of spirituality and secular values. This massive work demands cooperation of every one in the society.
